Pasadenans Organizing for Progress (POP) announced today it is hiring part-time temporary workers to help POP support the efforts the Pasadena Complete Counts Committee with the 2020 Census. POP will hire residents familiar with the local neighborhoods in City Council Districts 1, 3, and 5 located in Northwest Pasadena.
POP and the Complete Counts Committee goal is to increase the response rate in these historically undercounted neighborhoods. The primary focus of the work will be outreach to residents educating them on the importance of being counted.
Historically, the census has under-counted marginalized groups such as renters, children, people of color and immigrants. This totals over 50% of the City’s population. It is expected that POP’s part time workers will help reach over 4,000 residences from early March into May of this year.
Prospective candidates should apply no later than February 14th by email to POP2020census@poppasadena.org. Provide your name, contact information including phone number and a short description of your experience and interest. Successful candidates must be over 18 yrs of age and have experience and be willing to learn about the census. They must be available for a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. Pay is $17 per hour.
