our mission:
POP! is dedicated to ensuring equitable access to quality education for all students in Pasadena, with a particular focus on historically marginalized communities. We believe that every child has the right to a fully funded, culturally relevant, and supportive education that prepares them for success in life.
our goals include:
- Working to eliminate disparities in academic achievement, with a focus on students of color, English language learners, and students with disabilities.
- Fighting to ensure undocumented families have the ability to vote in School District elections.
- Improving school safety by investing in community-based support systems to create safer, more supportive school environments.
- Mobilizing students, parents, educators, and community members to demand changes in school practices that reflect the needs and voices of the community.
Through direct action and coalition-building, we strive to dismantle the barriers that prevent students from receiving the quality education they deserve and work toward an education system that truly serves our community. POP!, with help from the ACLU Pasadena Chapter, won the fight to remove School Resource Officers (SROs) from Pasadena schools.
