The Workers’ Rights Committee meets bi-weekly to discuss strategy and plan activities. Committee representatives meet monthly with city staff to ensure that the city is diligently enforcing the minimum wage ordinance and holding accountable those businesses that willfully ignore the law and steal hard-earned wages from workers. The committee targets sectors—car washes, janitorial and security services, restaurants and motels—where wage theft is common identify violators to report to the city.
The committee engages in a variety of actions to ensure compliance with the minimum wage—we count on volunteers to make these actions successful.
